Designed and built using ancient esoteric acoustic design principals, to achieve a beautifully balanced sound with an extremely musical reverb.

The Space

Golden Curve Sound is a Recording, Mixing, Mastering and Music Production Studio nestled deep in the beautiful Catskill Mountains. Owner and Chief Engineer Scott Hollingsworth designed and built the space using ancient esoteric acoustic design principals, to achieve a beautifully balanced sound with an extremely musical reverb.

The studio is a built in a new 1200 square feet barn, with remarkable sound isolation between the main live room and control room. The shape of the double-wall between the two rooms was designed based on three Fibonacci curves and resembles the side of an acoustic guitar or grand piano.

The live room boasts 15' cathedral ceilings. The control room has been meticulously designed and built to provide a musical and accurate listening environment. There is also a 50 square feet vocal booth, a guitar amp room and a garage, to provide additional isolation options for bands or larger ensembles.

The Setup

The studio was designed with a focus on creating a fluid workflow, allowing for easier and less frequent interaction with the computer. Monitors and Keyboards have been strategically installed around the space allowing for computer control from almost anywhere.

Great sounding instruments, classic microphones, and loads of Neve transformers and vacuum tubes make getting fantastic sounds effortless.  Of course we have all the essential plug-ins as well. (Waves platinum, Melodyne, Autotune, Drumagog, Reason 5, Kontact.)

6 stereo pairs of high end compressors, and Equalizers by GML, Neve and Calrec as well as an array of digital mastering plug-ins give you tons of processing possibilities. Speakers by Genelec, Dynaudio, Harbeth and B&W will ensure that what you hear is what you get.

The house is 2500sf with 2 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms, full open floor-plan kitchen, 2 wood burning stoves, living room, 900 sf deck, TV room. Including pull-out sofa and futon, the house comfortably sleeps 10. The house is situated near a stream, next to thousands of acres of state land. Numerous hiking trails, lakes and streams surround the area.
